Welcome!

We’re glad you’re here, and thank you for taking the first step towards fostering a green company culture! As a leader in your business community, we encourage and challenge you to dream big with the ways you can tap into your extended resources and expand your positive impact. We are excited to support you on your journey to becoming environmental stewards and champions in Fairfax County!

If you’re interested in expanding your commitment to sustainability beyond a one-time cleanup event, send us an email at community@cleanfairfax.org and ask us about our Business is Picking Up program!

How to Plan a Clean Up

1. Gather your team of volunteers and pick a time and location for your cleanup.
Note: We have found that streams, wooded areas surrounding residential and commercial areas, office parks, and some roadways (e.g., quieter streets in neighborhoods) usually make great sites for cleanups. We encourage you to explore areas around your business community to identify a site that works for your group! If you are interested in cleaning up a park, you should contact Park Authority to request permission.

2. If you need supplies (gloves, bags, vests, etc.), you may order them from us! We will mail them to your local district supervisor’s office or you may pick them up from our office at Government Center.
Note: We need 10 business days to get supplies to you, so please plan accordingly!

3. On the date of your cleanup, dress for the weather and bring plenty of water (actively discourage the use of single-use plastic water bottles!). Practice safety and avoid sharp or dangerous objects, stay out of busy roadways, and do not work on private property without permission.

4. We encourage you to take pictures from your cleanup, please share them and tag us if you’d like!

5. Take your trash with you and put in your business dumpster or home trash cans/dumpster to be picked up by your hauler. Do not leave trash bags in parks, along the side of the road, or anywhere else except in a trash can or dumpster. Part of cleaning up is properly disposing of the litter you collect!

6. After your clean up, let us know how it went by submitting a Clean Up Report!
